Stephen is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; children Joshua (Jillian) Schnell, Samantha (Andy) Elstein and Jeffrey (Rachael) Schnell; grandchildren Spencer Schnell, Justin Schnell and Jenna Schnell; brother Barry Wolfson; and brother and sister-in-law Andy and Debbie Merkin, as well as nieces and nephews.
Stephen was born in 1941 in Newark, New Jersey to Harry and Doris Goodman. He attended Weequahic High School in New Jersey and graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, a Master’s degree from Temple University and a D.D.S. from the NYU College of Dentistry.
Stephen established a dental practice on Washington Street in Hoboken, New Jersey where he proudly served the community for nearly fifty years before his retirement. Stephen was passionate about New York City, fashion, ice cream, theater, tennis and, most of all, his family.
Stephen will be remembered with love and respect by all of those who knew him. Donations in his memory can be made to the USTA Foundation, an organization with a mission to bring tennis and education together to change lives.
