Donna Jean Scholl Ciuba

Donna Jean Ciuba, 53, of West Orange, New Jersey died peacefully at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston on August 17, 2011. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home, 145 East Mount Pleasant Avenue (Route 10) in Livingston. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 44 Benvenue Avenue, West Orange.

Born Donna Jean Scholl, Mrs. Ciuba lived in Newark, N.J., then moved to West Orange when she was 8 years old. After being married in 1988, Donna, her husband Ed, and their daughter Rebecca lived briefly in Medford Lakes, N.J. and Hillside, N.J. before moving back to West Orange in 1994.

Donna was an accomplished Registered Nurse and a Certified Oncology/Chemotherapy Nurse. She began her career at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, and then worked for over 20 years at Summit Medical Group. She was the Chemotherapy Nurse at Livingston Subspecialty Group when complications from kidney disease forced her to retire in 2007. Donna’s family is comforted by the many kind words they have received from former patients who benefitted from both her exceptional nursing skills and sincere compassion for all.

Mrs. Ciuba was a devoted Parishioner of both St. Joseph’s Church in West Orange and St. Philomena’s Church/Aquinas Academy in Livingston, where she was formerly a Eucharistic Minister and Co-Leader of the Bereavement Group. Donna and Ed’s daughter Rebecca attended Aquinas Academy, where Donna was a Class Mother, chaired several committees for the Home & School Association, and served as the Girl Scout Leader.

Donna is survived by her husband Ed and their daughter Rebecca, her mother Mary Scholl, her sister Victoria (Scholl) Trien, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Donna’s name to the West Orange First Aid Squad (25 Mount Pleasant Place, West Orange, N.J. 07052), whose unfailing professionalism and kindness was truly appreciated by her family.
