Born & raised in Newark to the late Donato and Mary (nee Corbo), he lived in Bloomfield before moving to East Hanover 19 years ago.
He grew up working in the family grocery store known to many as “Belfiore’s” or “Bubbles” and was a graduate of Barringer High School and the University of Miami.
Donald was an entrepreneur of his own kind as well as a teacher with the Newark Board of Education for more than 35 years. He spent his summers working at Monmouth Racetrack while making cherished memories at the family shore house in Chadwick Beach, NJ.
He was the beloved husband of GraceAnn (nee DeRosa) for 39 years, loving father of Donald Belfiore and his wife Claire, Charla Macaluso and her husband Joseph, and Valarie Belfiore. He was the cherished grandfather of Sofia, Milania, and Alessia Belfiore, and Giovanna Macaluso, dear brother in law of Valarie & Charles Kerr and loving brother of the late Filomena Bossert, Mildred Ciktor, and Anthony Belfiore. He was a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces & nephews and will be missed by many friends.
Visitation will be held at the LaMonica Memorial Home on Thursday, September 10, 2020 from 3-8 pm and due to COVID restrictions, CDC guidelines will be strictly adhered to.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Lucy’s Church in Newark on Friday, September 11, 2020 at 1 pm followed by the Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
