Dean Gregory Malanga, 56, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2013. The memorial gathering will be at the Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home of Livingston, 145 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., on Friday, November 8, from 4 PM until 8 PM. Everyone is invited directly to St. Joseph’s Church, 44 Benvenue Ave., West Orange, on Saturday where the Memorial Mass celebrating Dean’s life will offered at 9:30 AM. The committal service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Fabry Research. Dean was a life-long resident of West Orange. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Montclair State University in 1983 with a B.A. in Sociology. From 1983 to 1986 he worked in social work as a Youth Counselor at Project Youth Haven in Paterson and Covenant House and Bank Street College, both in New York City. From 1986 to 1989 he was employed by the US Postal Service as a mail handler and letter carrier in Parsippany and West Caldwell and from 1981 to 1992 he was a Service Representative and Account Manager for SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories in East Orange.
Predeceased by his parents, Dante and Margaret (Kovach) Malanga and his two brothers, Bruce and Gary, he is survived by his beloved companion, Janice Hoffman, many loving cousins and a host of dear friends.
