Ben Halper of Livingston, N.J., formerly of Short Hills, N.J., died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012. He was 91. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, at Temple B'nai Abraham, 300 East Northfield Rd., Livingston. Interment will follow at Beth Israel Memorial Park, Woodbridge, N.J. He served his country faithfully during World War II in the European Theatre, Battle of the Bulge, where he was wounded, and for which he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Mr. Halper was an executive and one of the owners of Halper Bros. Paper Co. of Edison, N.J., formerly of Elizabeth, N.J. Mr. Halper was a member of Temple B'nai Abraham , Livingston, and the Hillside Lodge, B'nai Brith, and was a master Mason, and a Shriner. He was married to his late wife, Miriam, for over 61 years; was the devoted father of Irwin Halper and his wife, Vicki, Robert Halper, and Jane Eisenstat and her husband, Steven; father-in-law of the late Donna and Barbara Halper; dear brother of Irving Halper and Rose Axelrod, and was the brother-in-law of Lenore Halper, Elaine Halper, and Martha Halper. Mr Halper also leaves behind his grandchildren, Tara, Matthew and Erin, Marissa and Glenn, Andrew and Heather, Scott and Sara, Brooke, Eric, Devin, Dustin, and great-grandchildren, Brett, Daniel, Lyla, Jake, and Louis.
