Barbara grew up in Long Island and lived in Merrick, NY for 40 plus years where she raised her children with her husband.
She worked in the Merrick school district for over 25 years. After her retirement, she was an active volunteer in the Merrick communities.
Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald I. Silverman, of 50 years, her parents, Murray and Volia Platt, her brother, Sheldon Platt, her daughter-in-law, Amy Silverman, and her grandson, Mack Ogrodnik.
Barbara was survived by her son Stephen and his wife, Susan Rothman, her daughter, Ellen Ogrodnik and her husband, Michael, and her son, Barry Silverman and his wife, Abby. She was the adored Grandma to Jamie and Mack Ogrodnik, Marc and Ross Silverman, and Matthew, Daniel, Justin, and Amanda Silverman.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at Mount Lebanon Cemetery in Queens, NY.
