She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Rubino and brothers Nicholas Lopapa and Paul Lopapa; and their spouses Benny, Carol and Margaret.
Ann’s legacy is one of love and devoted friendship. Ann loved being with family and friends, especially with a deck of cards and a case of rummy cube. Many nights Ann could be found playing canasta with Mary her sister, and Barbara along with any number of friends in Florida.
Ann met Ralph when her brother Paul introduced them. Ralph proposed to Ann after a 2 week whirlwind romance! They wed in September in the middle of a hurricane and settled down in Florida. Later they moved to NJ, opened Village Bakery followed by Colonial Bakery. Ann and Ralph worked hard and retired early so they could enjoy life. They spent most of the year in Palm Beach where Ralph could be found most days on the golf course while Ann volunteered at the local hospital for years and enjoyed spending time with her lady friends.
While in Florida, Ann and her friends would attend luncheons, shop at flea markets, attend the theatre and museums, and of course host dinner parties and play cards. Ann and Ralph coordinated countless parties at the Carlyle, their condo in Palm Beach, throughout the season. They enjoyed traveling with friends and family all over the US with an occasional trip to other countries such as Ireland, Canada, and a few Caribbean islands including Aruba, St Maarten, Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas.
While back in NJ during the summer, Ann and Ralph spent time with their daughters’ families and of course the grandchildren. Ann was a devoted grandmother to her growing family. She attended as many of her grandchildren’s sport and school activities as she could, with some of her favorites being baseball games, soccer matches, and dance recitals.
Mom – although we will miss your laugh and your hugs, it is time to be with Dad again. Rest in peace Mom – we love you.
