Allen Bryan Levithan, 72, passed away early Monday morning, December 24, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Beth for over fifty years, loving father of David and Adam (Jen), devoted grandfather of Paige, Matthew, and Hailey, cherished brother of Jack and Robert, and proud son of Lou and Alice.
A graduate of Dwight Morrow High School (’64), Lafayette College (’68), and Harvard Law School (’71), Allen joined Lowenstein Sandler LLP in 1972 following his clerkship with Chief Justice Weintraub of the NJ Supreme Court. He retired forty-two years later at the end of 2014. During his practice he shaped the corporate department, launched the investment funds and mortgage finance practices, and truly led by example in his pro bono and community service work. He served in almost every position in the firm, including as chair of the corporate department and as general counsel to the firm.
Allen and Beth moved to Short Hills in 1974 and became active members in their community. Among his many charitable endeavors, Allen served as president of Jewish Family Services of Metrowest and Allen and Beth led many missions to Israel for UJA. Allen was also a very proud Little League coach and deeply enjoyed cheering from the stands for children and grandchildren alike.
