player and lover of lebkuchens (we'll gladly share the recipe!), died peacefully at home on December 26,
2021, at the age of 97. She was born March 1, 1924, in Little Rock Arkansas, the only child of (Ruby)
Zoe and Orrin Jacob Zeisler. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John Adam Vogler, their
son John Michael Vogler, her half-sisters Mary Elizabeth Sullivan, Francesca Sherry, and Patricia Nicol
McCarthy, and her precious granddaughter Amanda Sherwood Roberts.
Zoe Ellen and John married at The Cathedral of Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Little Rock on
December 26th, 1944. Zoe Ellen died on what would have been the celebration of their 77th wedding
anniversary.
Zoe Ellen and John always wanted a large family and became loving parents to 12 children: John
Michael, Eugene (Bernadette), William Orrin (Carolyn), Mary Ellen, Margaret (Garry), Christopher
(Jean), Anne (Charles), Martha (Bernie), Matthew, Laurie (Sam), Stephen (Carol), and Robert.
Zoe Ellen was "Nanaw" to 28 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Zoe Ellen was a mem ber of the St. Edward Christian Mothers Sodality, St. Theresa Altar Society and
Catholic Daughters, a past board member and spokesperson for ACORN (Association of Community
Organizations for Reform Now), and a member of the Quapaw Quarter Association and Neighborhood
Reinvestment Corp. She loved music and volunteered for Arkansas Repertory Theatre and Arkansas
Symphony Orchestra. She was a member of the church choirs at both St. Edward and St. Theresa
Catholic churches.
We, her children, loved her and the caring, adventurous, laughter-filled home she created for her family.
We were each convinced we were, in fact, her favorite child, just one of her many talents as she convinced us one by one that we might just be right. We count one another as each other's best friends even now and that is maybe the best testament to the kind of mother and person Zoe Ellen was. We'll each forever work to craft our families in the same way - filled with laughter, samba games and best friends.
The family celebrated a private funeral Mass for Zoe Ellen at St. Theresa Catholic Church. Rosary and
burial followed at Calvary Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 6219 Baseline Road, Little Rock, Arkansas
