Samuel David Andrews cast his last line Friday, October 9, 2015 at the age of 66. Sam was born October 16, 1948 in Little Rock, Arkansas to Samuel and Beatrice Andrews. Sam served as a communications specialist in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. After college, Sam worked at St. Vincent Infirmary in Little Rock for 20 years. During that time, he held many positions including the Director of Plant Operations. Sam was in his 15th year as a Project Manager at Tinsley Mullin Engineering in Little Rock. Sam married his beloved bride, Rita Jean Fitches on October 26, 1985. This began an adventure of a lifetime. They enjoyed a 30 year honeymoon that included traveling, camping, fishing, raising children and spoiling their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could often be found on their favorite beach with friends and family. There was never a dull moment with Sam around. He was an accomplished Ham Radio Operator (AE5L). He had many hobbies, including games of chance, crosswords, and Sudoku. He was an average fisherman but if you asked him, he was an outstanding fisherman. He also had a love for spreadsheets of any kind for anything. Sam was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Henry. He is survived by his devoted wife, Rita Fitches Andrews; daughters, Lisa (Glen) Selligman, Anita (Matt) Sims, both of St. Louis, Mo., and Shaynee (Karl) Ice of Little Rock; sons, Chad Jones of Hot Springs, Ar., and Jason (Alison) Jones of Little Rock. He was a proud Grandfather to Andre (Karla) Molden of Fort Polk, La., Eli and Spencer Jones, Galen and Lillian Selligman, Jake and Lucy Sims, and Great Grandfather to Jurnee and Malaki Molden. Sam leaves behind a host of family and friends, including his cherished Church Ladies. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home.
