Mrs. Maria C Brown

It is with heavy but grateful hearts that the family of Maria Claudette (Tobey) Brown, of North Little Rock, AR, announces her passing on August 21st, 2022, at age 84. While we mourn her passing, we are grateful she has reunited with her love and life partner, our daddy Jabo Brown. Maria was preceded in death by her husband William “Jabo” Haydon Brown, her son John Thomas Brown, her mother Mickey Dutton and stepdad George Dutton, her father Verlyn Tobey, her brother George Dutton Jr, and her sister Connie Barton. Maria will be lovingly remembered and missed by her brother Roy Tobey and wife Kristi of Little Rock, AR, brother Bob Tobey and wife Judy of Sherwood, AR, sons Rick Brown and wife Rita of Milwaukee, WI, Jerry Brown and wife Debbie of Rogers, AR, and Greg Brown of Houston, TX. Maria will be fondly remembered as Mimi to grandchildren Austin Brown, Adam Brown, Seth Brown and wife Kalie, Aaron Brown, Hannah Baker and husband Tommy, Lucas Brown and wife Julia and great-grandchildren Isaac Brown and Sophia Brown as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Maria and Jabo were lifelong members of Levy Baptist Church in North Little Rock, AR.

Maria and Jabo started their lives together in 1954 as a young mother and father to 4 boys. Maria’s focus in those early years was to raise and care for her children. In the early 1970’S Maria decided she wanted to focus on herself and her life -long dream of becoming a nurse. She worked hard to put herself through school, working as a dental hygienist and oral surgery assistant to Dr. Lord in Little Rock. Ultimately Maria graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing and worked in the OR at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. After a long career, she retired as the OR Supervisor at Baptist.

The family will receive friends for visitation and viewing on Thursday, August 25, 2022, from 5pm-7pm at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 W 12th St, Little Rock, AR 72204. Graveside services and interment will be on Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11am at Rest Hills Memorial Park Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home, 7724 Landers Rd, North Little Rock, AR 72117.
