John R. “Jack” Dallas passed away peacefully at the age of 92 to reunite with his beloved wife of 51 years, the late Julia R. Dallas. Jack was born in Memphis, TN on Jan. 13, 1927 and passed on January 26, 2019.
He leaves behind his adoring children Jeanenne of St Louis; Col (Ret) John R., Jr (Daren) of Ft Smith, Janie (Brian) Koesy of North Little Rock; Jim (Andrea) of St Louis and foster daughter Leona Cardenas of Ft Smith. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 4 great-children. Other relatives/survivors include a niece, nephew, great-niece, sister-in-law and grandsons-in-law.
Jack was the life of every gathering he attended, he loved being with people and his corny jokes were his claim to fame. He lived an active life involved with many organizations. The highlight of his life and what he is best known for was his ownership of The Embers restaurant from 1960-1973. He took pride in the business and built it to become the institution that is remembered by many in Little Rock.
He served as President of many organizations – The Arkansas Restaurant Association, Mt St Mary’s PTO, Parish Council of Our Lady of Good Counsel, Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus #812, and Vice-President of the LR Jaycees.
Mass of Christian Burials will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church Saturday, February 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Rosary service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2019 at the church preceded by a visitation from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
