Jeffrey Allen Covay, age 56, of North Little Rock, passed away September 17, 2024. Jeff was welcomed into Heaven by his brother, Brian Covay, his parents Kenneth and Kathleen Covay, his maternal grandparents, Walter and Harriet Hofmann, his paternal grandparents, Chester and Gladys Covay, and father-in-law, Phillip Batten.
Jeff was born in Santa Rosa, California and spent most of his childhood growing up in California and in Meeker, Colorado. He enjoyed hiking, and visiting national parks with his family.
He graduated from Louisiana Tech University with a degree in civil engineering and had a long career working in the Bridge Division at Arkansas Department of Transportation. Jeff was regarded by his coworkers as cheerful and willing to contribute in any way he could. He treasured his time at ARDOT and his friendships with his coworkers.
Jeff was married to his wife Elizabeth for 16 years and they had three children, Lucy, Henry and Thomas. As a family, they enjoyed many epic road trips exploring new places, hiking wherever they could, and family dinners no matter how busy the day.
Jeff had a strong, lifelong faith in God that was unwavering regardless of circumstances. He had a heart for teaching and serving others and was generous with his time. You could find him teaching Sunday school, coaching basketball and soccer, and providing a helping hand to others.
Those left to cherish the memories of Jeff include his wife Elizabeth; his beloved children Lucy, Henry and Thomas Covay; his uncle Wally Hofmann, his brother-in-law Andy (Angie) Batten; his brother-in-law Charlie Batten; nieces Abby, Amelia and Harper Batten and mother-in-law Tessie Batten.
The family would like to extend much love and appreciation to the staff at the LTAC unit of Baptist Health Hospital for their kind and considerate care of Jeff during his extended illness.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 27, 2024 at Griffin-Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home of Little Rock (5800 W 12th Street, Little Rock, Arkansas 72204). Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Jeffrey will be laid to rest at Pinecrest Cemetery. You are invited to follow the funeral procession to Pinecrest Cemetery for a brief graveside service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Sepsis Alliance.
