Jean Sheffer, 88, of Little Rock, died May 14, 2020. Born April 15, 1932 in Lonoke, Arkansas, she was the daughter of James and Venia Parker Havens. Jean graduated from Lonoke High School, and secretary to Governor Winthrop Rockefeller for many years, served as office manager for President Bill Clinton when he was associated with the Wright, Lindsey, and Jennings Law Firm. Later, she was associated with Bailey Properties in Little Rock. She was of the Baptist faith. Jean loved her family dearly and will be remembered for her kindness to others. She enjoyed model airplane contests and animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Betty Lott and Joyce Leonard; brothers, Donald Havens and Larry Havens. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Jack Sheffer, of Little Rock; daughter, Vickie Gann (Rick) of Bryant, Arkansas; sister, Faye Hill (Larry) of Conway, Arkansas; brothers, Paul Havens (Jeanine) of Conway, Arkansas, Jimmy Havens, of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and Leon Havens (Janie) of Greenbrier, Arkansas; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2020 in the chapel of Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth, 5800 W. 12th Street, Little Rock (501) 661-9111 with Rev. Ben Leonard officiating. Interment will be private at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the funeral home.
