Harold Elliot Smith, 92, went to join his beloved Nancy Jane on January 5th, 2016. Harold was born in Nashville, Tn., one of four siblings on October 8, 1923. Nancy's house was on his paper route and he was immediately smitten. She wasn't. He persevered and finally won her over. WWII interfered. Harold was part of the 1st Marine Division that stormed the beaches of Guadalcanal and turned the tide of the war against Japan. After the war Harold and Nancy were married. Harold is survived by his baby sister Ann Hamilton, four children; Dorothy Sharon Steidle (Ken), Clifford Ray Smith (Judy) Cheryl Lynn Smith, Melinda Leigh Wood, ten grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren (and one on the way), and a plethora of nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his sister Eleanor Wooten, his brother Edice Ray Smith, and his beloved wife Nancy Jane Smith. The family will host a gathering of friends and acquaintances Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 2:00 to 4:00 at Asbury United Methodist Church, 1700 Napa Valley Road, Little Rock.
