Harlan Truett Brown, 76, of Greenville, Texas, and Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away suddenly on Thursday, August 10, 2023. He was the son of Joe Hugh and Nellie Aline Brown and is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Wesley Brown (Rebecca).
Harlan graduated in 1965 from Greenville High School where he was a member of the Future Farmers of America, the track team, and the band, playing coronet in both the marching and stage bands. Throughout his childhood and many of his adult years, Harlan was a member of the Tidwell Baptist Church. He served as a deacon there for more than 20 years before relocating to Little Rock. There he became an endeared member of the Crystal Valley Baptist Church. Harlan was a kind and gentle soul that always had an encouraging word and helped anyone in need. Whether it was cutting grass, fixing machinery, or lending an ear and praying for others, he could always be counted on. He was the rock of our family.
By trade Harlan was a draftsman, but his true joy in life was being outdoors. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but for many years he rode the open road on weekends and extended trips on his motorcycle(s). In Arkansas, Harlan became a member of the BMW Motorcycle Club, Naturally Beemers, and The Rams, another cycle club. He loved taking the scenic route and dirt roads whenever possible.
Harlan Brown is survived by his two nieces, Vanessa Brown (Kelly Woodroof) of Madison, Tennessee, and Xan Brown Lasko (Chris) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, and his sister-in-law Rebecca Elmore Brown, of Denton, Texas. He also leaves behind two great-nieces, Ryley Lasko of Nashville and Payton Lasko of Murfreesboro; and a great-nephew, Quinton Lasko (Becka) of San Francisco, California.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Crystal Hill Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest in his home state, Texas, at Tidwell Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Tidwell Baptist Church or the Crystal Hill Baptist Church.
