Dorothy’s early childhood began in Sherrill, Arkansas. Her extended family, grandparents, mother, uncles, aunts, and siblings all moved to Wrightsville when she was five years old. Dorothy attended Wrightsville Elementary, J.C. Cook High School, and graduated from Dunbar High School in Little Rock. She enrolled in and was admitted into Shorter College, North Little Rock.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Tobe Garman and to this union four children were born: Michael (Diane) Garman, Freda Garman Taylor, Eric (Lilly) Garman, and Ronald (Cassandra) Garman all of Wrightsville.
Dorothy professed her faith in Christ at a young age and joined First Baptist Church in Wrightsville where she was a devoted member for many years. When her son Michael became an ordained minister, she left First Baptist to become a founding member of his church: Menorah Bible Church where she was a faithful member until her departure for the heavenly paradise.
Dorothy’s grandparents, both parents, three siblings (a brother, Richard Hughes, and two sisters, Mallie Dandridge and Arcola Campbell), a grandson, Deldrin Garman, and a multitude of other relatives and acquaintances predeceased her. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, two sisters–Ruby McClain of Wrightsville, and Gloria Thomas of Bryant, eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
