Darla Hines

Darla Sue Goodwin Hines, 60, passed away at home on Sunday, October 11, 2015, surrounded by her loved ones. Darla, a long term resident of Arkansas, was born in Little Rock on June 5, 1955. Darla is the firstborn daughter of Tommy and Sue Goodwin; her sister was the late Belinda Goodwin. Darla received her degree in nursing from UALR and shortly thereafter she and David Hines were married in 1979. Darla was then able to live her dream of raising a family. Not until later in life, at age 50, with children grown, she returned to nursing. She served as an RN in the operating room for 8 years until she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Darla continued the great strength possessed her whole life; always determined and adaptable. Darla was deeply respected at her job and was awarded Nurse of the Year at Bethesda Hospital in 2013 and 2015. Darla was a radiant person leaving a mark on everyone she met. She was an avid reader, lover of animals, gentle and kind hearted, and a woman of true elegance. Darla was a dedicated daughter to her parents, a loving mother, sister, and treasured friend to many. Surviving Darla is mother Sue Goodwin, sons John and David Jr., daughter Olivia and ex-husband David Sr. Memorial Services to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home, 5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.
