Connie is preceded in death by her parents Winfred Conti Hamzy and Joetta Boydston Hamzy.
Connie is survived by her cousins, Rita Ann Lawrence, Wendell Boydston, Sammy Baker and Justin Baker; her beloved felines Panda and Santos; and friends too numerous to mention.
Connie enjoyed going to rock concerts at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock. Her mother would take her and drop her off early. In her teen years she was able to find her way backstage to meet the bands, this is how Connie became one of the most well known rock groupies.
Connie was best known for being mentioned in Grand Funk Railroad’s song “We’re an American Band” (“Last night in Little Rock, put me in a haze / Sweet, sweet Connie, doin’ her act / She had the whole show and that’s a natural fact.”).
She published a memoir in 1995 under the title Rock Groupie: The Intimate Adventures of “Sweet Connie” from Little Rock.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Connie's life.
