Beverly Jean Sapp, 64, of Little Rock, passed away December 28, 2016 at CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas surrounded by family and friends. She was born on August 27, 1952 in Fort Benning, Georgia and was preceded in death by her father, James Lawton, Sr., mother, Verdell (Spencer) Lawton, and sister, Charlotte Lawton. Sis. Sapp graduated from Belair High School located in El Paso, Texas in 1970. She then attended cosmetology school before attending college at Arkansas Baptist College where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, graduating in 1982. Prior to attending college, she gained employment at the Metropolitan Housing Alliance where she would remain employed for 38 years before retiring in January 2016. Some of her accomplishments include: earning a certificate of completion from H & R Block Tax School and participated in VITA (free tax filling program for low income families), implementation of daycare at Lewis Street Church of Christ, Sunday school teacher, numerous volunteer efforts for the less fortunate. Sis. Sapp was a dedicated member of the Lewis Street Church of Christ for 40 years where she was baptized under the leadership of Bro. Warren Williams. She was also a member of the Lewis Street Radio Chorus. She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 42 years, Artis Sapp; son, Keenan (Christi) Sapp siblings, James (Earnestine) Lawton, Jr., Jennice (Dan) White, Ramona Smith, granddaughter, Zoey Sapp and a host of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
