Pastor Ralph Metcalf of Little River, SC passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, March 12th, 2022. He was a retired Baptist Preacher who served in Army Intelligence prior to his call to ministry. He led congregations beginning at Corinth in Seneca, SC and ending at Pleasant Grove in Greensboro, NC.
Ralph grew up in the community, schools, and on the ball fields and gymnasiums in Tryon, NC. There he met Carolyn, his loving wife of 54 years. Together they raised their family and touched the lives of many as they lived throughout the Carolinas.
Ralph loved his family, spending quality time with everyone, and the occasional good-natured teasing. He enjoyed playing and watching sports, was a lifelong Tarheel, and a New York Yankees fanatic. He served many years of Mission work, with noteworthy involvement in the assistance and spreading of The Word in impoverished areas in Brazil. He enjoyed teaching from the Bible, especially the Books of Revelation, Daniel, and Ezekiel.
He is survived by wife Carolyn, of Little River, SC; sister Louise of Columbus, NC; daughter Alecia Douglas (Dave) in Huntersville, NC; son Bill Metcalf (Joy) in Little River, SC; and grandson Dustin Metcalf, also in Little River, SC, along with other treasured extended family members.
Ralph suggested consideration for giving to local churches, Hospice, and the Dementia Society of America in lieu of flowers. A celebration of life gathering of close family and friends is planned for later this week.
We are reminded at this time of The Good News in The Bible and The Great Promise of The Lord, and of enjoying the time we have together.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.leefhandcrematory.com for the Metcalf family. Lee Funeral Home and Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
