Obituary:

On Thursday, May 16th, 2024, Vernon Walwyn, passed away working at his home.

Vernon was born on a small island named St. Kitts and Nevis, to late Rubert Walwyn and Vivian Walters on September 19, 1948; one of 15 children. He came to the United States in 1975, with just $74 in his pocket but through hard work as a carpenter and taxi driver he established a foundation for his future family.

On August 19th, 1977, he married his Country NYC Love, Ruby Bellamy of Longs SC and together raised a family, built a business and heritage that will reside in the memories of many. He was a Master Builder, Entrepreneur and Horry County Employee; finally retiring in 2015. His sunny bright personality shined in his positive and happy disposition, greeting all with a “Good Morning!”. Vernon loved to make people happy through his gift of gab and skill to turn an architectural vision into a physical reality; figuratively building the community with his own two hands and a constant moving fixture of Longs. Another major influence in Vernons’ life was his spiritual endeavor, his love of the ministry, serving the Loris Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses as an active publisher, ministerial servant and pioneer for over 35 years.

He was predeceased by his parents, Rubert Walwyn and Vivian Walters, siblings in order, Priscilla Stanley, Lloyd Walwyn, Audrey Benjamin, Gwendolyn Crossley, John Griffin, Roosevelt Walters, Joyce Sutton, Andrea Smith and Trevor Walwyn; and one son Demaine Walwyn; in-laws, Gardener and Shirley Ward, Ken Behrendt, Lawrence ‘LM’ Williams, Walter Lee Bellamy, Fred Bellamy, Dennis Bellamy and Keith Bellamy.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 47 years, Ruby Walwyn; daughter and son-in-law, Saint Luke and Denease Estinvil of Longs SC; son and daughter-in-law, Sigmund and Kila Valentine of Winchester CA; son and daughter-in-law, James ‘Cory’ and Okeya Valentine of Tampa FL; son Germaine ‘Roger’ Walwyn of Longs SC; son and daughter-in-law, Dameon and Angenique Walwyn of Raleigh NC; son and daughter-in-law, Wesley and Lisa Walwyn of Avenel NJ; grandsons, Jarreit Bellamy, James Cory ‘JC’ Valentine, Nias Walwyn, Nickolas ‘Nick’ Valentine, Abe Walwyn, Micah Walwyn; granddaughters, Tiara Estinvil, Nykeya Williams, Eyane Valentine, Kyesha Valentine, Siana Valentine; siblings in order, Edward Wenham, Inell Walwyn, Spencer Walwyn, Valerie Hodge, Clinton Walwyn; in-laws, Icaix Bellamy of Myrtle Beach SC, Joe Bellamy of Crumbling MD, Noah and Emma Green of Longs SC; Nora Behrendt of Charlotte NC and Kenneth and Amma Turner of Tampa FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
