Tim Bowie, age 47, passed away early Thursday, January 28, 2016 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia, grew up in Damascus, Maryland, and was the son of Rita Ley and Washington “Tony” Bowie. Tim worked as a Lecturer in the Wall College of Business at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, and was a current doctoral candidate at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida.
He is survived by his wife, Stacie Bowie, his daughter, Courtney Bowie, his son, Dillon Bowie, his mother, Rita Ley, and his step-father, Richard Ley, and his father, Washington “Tony” Bowie.
Tim enjoyed his time in the classroom, specifically working with each and every one of his students. He was a dedicated husband and father, a son of whom to be proud, and a great friend to those who knew him. Even though much shorter than everyone hoped, his life was full of excitement, adventure, and love, and is one worth celebrating.
The family will receive friends at a visitation/drop-in at Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC, on the corner of Sea Mountain Hwy and Hwy 90 near North Myrtle Beach High School, on Sunday, January 31st from 4-6pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Tim to the Coastal Educational Foundation (the fundraising foundation for Coastal Carolina University - http://www.coastal.edu/cef/). The family will decide at a later time which specific funds within the foundation will best represent his passions.
A guestbook is available at www.leefhandcrematory.com.
Lee Funeral Home & Crematory of Little River/North Myrtle Beach is serving the family.
