Sandra Jane Bruce, 80, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Grand Strand Medical Center surrounded by her family and friends. Born on September 20, 1939 in Winooski, Vermont, she was the daughter of the late Armond and Ferdinand Meyers Mercure. She lived in North Myrtle Beach for the past 23 years with her husband of 61 years, Ronald Grant Bruce. Prior to retiring in the area, they lived in several North Eastern states and made many friends along the way.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband; four sons, Rick Bruce of Hobbs, NM, Dean Bruce of Butler, PA, Tim Bruce of Knox, PA and Gerry Bruce, and his wife Kerri, of Frisco, TX; grandchildren, Vicki Bruce, and her fiancé Logan, of Hobbs, NM, Danielle Bruce of Albuquerque, NM, Jared Bruce, and his wife Ashley, of Cincinnati, OH, Joey Bruce, and his girlfriend Kaylynn, of Marble, PA, Jenna Bruce of Indiana, PA, Christina Bruce, and her fiancé Ryann of New Bedford, MA, Luis Bruce of Cortland, NY, Tiffani Bruce of Myrtle Beach, SC, Hannah Bruce of Shippenville, PA, Zach Bruce, and his fiancé Rebecca, of Mandan, ND, and Kaylie Bruce of Seneca, PA; great grandchildren, Mason, Kinley and Jaden of Hobbs, NM. Also surviving are her sisters, Marlene Saborin of Winooski, VT, Joan (Al) Danis of The Villages, FL, Wanda Roza of Ocala, FL; her brother, Alan (Midge) Mercure of High Springs, FL; and brother-in-law, Shannon (Jaime) Bruce of South Point, OH.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Lee Bruce; daughter-in-law, Ruthie Bruce; grandson, Bryan Bruce; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Ray Rochefort; and brothers-in-law, William Bruce, Leon Saborin, and Donald Roza.
Mrs. Bruce was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach. She volunteered as a Poll worker for elections for over 20 years. Sandy was known for her Santa collection. Every year her and Ron would decorate their home with the collection of over 250 Santa Claus figures and invite their family, friends, and church members to come see their display. Sandy was always passionate about keeping her home and family in order. She will always be remembered for her unconditional love and commitment to her God, home, family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 4th at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of North Myrtle Beach, 200 Hwy 17 S, North Myrtle Beach, SC 29582.
