Ruth McKenna

Ruth M. (Murphy) McKenna, age 98, passed away peacefully in Winder, GA, on Friday, June 3, attended by family members and under hospice care. She was the daughter of the late James R. Murphy and Emma Price Murphy. She was born in East Orange, NJ, on January 3, 1924.

Ruth was a homemaker, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved to laugh and traveling to visit family and friends.

She was predeceased in death by her loving husband of 50 years, Eugene J. McKenna, a sister, Emma May Murphy, a brother, James R. Murphy, Jr., a son, Wayne A. McIntosh, and grandson, Wayne A. McIntosh, Jr. She is survived by a son, Russell McIntosh and his wife, Pamela, York, PA; a daughter, Anita McIntosh, Winder, GA; and a daughter-in-law, Kimberly McIntosh, New Tazwell, TN. She has five surviving grandchildren: Cindy Fritz, Bellefonte, PA; Christine McIntosh, York, PA; Matthew McIntosh, Winder GA; Jennifer Alagna, Clarksville, MD; and Sherry Johnson, Powell, TN. She has eleven great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.

Ruth resided in Little River, SC and attended Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church in Dacula, GA, when visiting her daughter in Winder.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Smith Memory Chapel, Winder, GA and the Lee Funeral Home in Little River, SC.

Memorial services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. She will be reunited with her husband in the National Cemetery in Florence, SC.
