Richard Horton (Skinner) Buxton, 69, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Blessed with two families, Rick was born in Miami, FL on July 15, 1954, to the late Pafford Skinner and Mary Elizabeth Skinner, before becoming a son of the late James and Shirley Smith Buxton.
On November 1, 1986, Rick married Christina Mondora and they were blessed with three children and eight grandchildren. Prior to retirement from Sterling China in Ohio, Rick was a press puller for numerous years. Having a love for the coast, he and his family moved to Charleston, SC following retirement, and eventually made Little River their home. Rick was an avid fisherman and a motorcycle enthusiast. He loved being outdoors and was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Along with his wife, Christina, Rick was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church and together they served in various capacities. They volunteered for the church cooking for those less fortunate, as well as serving during Lenten, fish fries and Thanksgiving. Rick was also a volunteer with the Little River Chamber of Commerce where he enjoyed the comradery with other members and was an active participant with the Chamber during the shrimp fest and the crab fest. Anyone who knew Rick loved him and he was a friend to all. Most importantly, he loved his family and cherished every moment with them. Rick was a faithful and devoted husband to Christina and a dedicated father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Ryan Buxton (wife, Colleen), Cory Buxton (wife, Michelle); daughter, Melissa Buxton Felix; brothers, James Buxton (wife, Karen), Ronnie Skinner, Joel Baxter (wife, Chris); sister, Diane Valdes (husband, Carlos); and eight grandchildren. Rick was preceded in death by brothers, Gene Skinner, Benny Skinner, Jimmy Skinner and sister, Debbie Skinner.
