Pursuing her passion for art, she attended Wilkes College, earning a B.A. in Fine Arts in 1969. It was there that she met her soulmate and husband of 54 years, Bill Stinger. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two sons, Eric and Andrew.
Throughout her life, Nancy exemplified qualities of creativity, generosity, and strength. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering commitment to serving others earned her a special place in the hearts of all who knew her. From her early days as an educator to her dedicated service on the East Longmeadow, MA school committee, Nancy was a tireless advocate for students and families. Her leadership as President of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees in 2000 left an indelible mark on education in the region, earning her a lifetime membership in 2001.
Following her retirement, Nancy moved with Bill to North Myrtle Beach, SC, where she found joy in pursuing her artistic talents. Her passion for art manifested in breathtaking pieces that adorned galleries in Calabash, NC, Southport, NC, and Charleston, SC. Yet, her greatest masterpiece was the love and warmth she shared with her community, as evidenced by the countless homes where her artwork found a cherished place.
Nancy was deeply rooted in faith and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church Myrtle Beach, where her spirit of compassion and generosity continued to shine brightly.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Nancy Haydt and John Wanczyk, her step-father, Richard Haydt, and her brother, Billy.
