Michael "Kurt" Watkins

Michael “Kurt” Watkins, age 54, of Conway, South Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. Born on April 24, 1969, in Leesburg, Virginia, he was the son of William Carroll and Dianne Dodd Watkins.

Survivors include his grandmother, Betty Dodd; sisters, Melissa Martin (Rick Chrissley) and Michelle Mate (Frank); nephew, Travis Martin (Moana); niece, Allison Martin (Kyle), along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by Ruffus C. Dodd, Levi and Mae Jewel Watkins.

Known for his contagious laugh, enduring smile and personality that could light up any room, Kurt never met a stranger. He was always making new friends, and had a very special place in his heart for animals. Kurt enjoyed spending his free time fishing, being around his family, and cheering on his favorite football team, the Georgia Bulldogs.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a local no-kill shelter of your choice.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Lee Funeral Home and Crematory.
