Mary T. Howard

Mary Theresa “Becky” Howard, a former resident of River Hills and previously of Upper Marlboro, MD, died at Myrtle Beach Manor on Thursday, April 13.

Born December 3, 1929 in Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Helen Marie (Langley) Beck and John Francis Beck. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Upton C. “Fritz” Howard; brothers, J. Joseph Beck, F. Russell Beck and John F. Beck, III and her son, William P. Owens.

“Becky” retired as Assistant Secretary and Assistant Treasurer from Potomac Electric Power Company after 48 years. She was a member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church.

She was the beloved mother of daughter, Peggy Studds (Don) of Little River, S.C. and beloved stepmother of Joyce Gartner (Tommy) of Mt. Airy, MD, Jackie Kraybill (Mike Schlieski) of Portland, OR and Debbie Minto of Frederick, MD. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 20 from 4 to 6 pm at Lee Funeral Home in Little River with a rosary at 5:30 pm. A mass of resurrection will be held at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, N. Myrtle Beach, SC on Friday, April 21 at 10 am. Burial will follow at North Myrtle Beach Memorial Gardens in North Myrtle Beach, SC.
