Mary Elaine Campbell, 84, of Little River, SC passed away Tuesday morning, June 4th, 2019.
Mary was born April 7th, 1935 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Ralph and Mary Martin. She graduated from Floral Park High School in New York in 1952. Mary went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University. Later she earned her Master’s Degree from Eastern Michigan University.
She met the love of her life, William Allen Campbell, upon graduating from Bowling Green State University. They were married on June 20th, 1959. From their union, they had four children Mark Campbell of Genoa, Ohio, Nan Hasting (Bernie) of Little River, SC, Kerry Boudrie (John) of Monroe, Michigan and William Campbell of Beaufort, SC.
She was affectionately known as Mimi to her five grandchildren, Stacie Johnson (Tim), Cameron Barber, Jordan Campbell, and Derek and Ryan Boudrie; and three great grandchildren, Campbell, Prescott and Maxwell Johnson.
Mary was an elementary school teacher at Flat Rock Community Schools for 30 years, where she taught third and fourth grade. She retired in 1993 and moved to Little River.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William and brother, Ralph. She is survived by her sister Barbara Martin of Greenwich, CT; nephew, Malcolm Frampton (Nevy) and great-nephew Jackson Frampton.
Mary enjoyed traveling the world with her sister, Barb. Her love of books made her an avid reader which she passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Other hobbies of Mary’s included golfing and going to the movies and the beach. She loved playing various card games and scrabble. She loved spending time with her family and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends at Lee Family Home in Little River, SC from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm with a celebration of life service at 2:00 pm Monday, June 10th, 2019.
