Lyle F. “Pete” “Sarge” Petersen, 89, died June 14, 2019 at SECU Hospice House of Brunswick.
Born on June 26, 1929 in Buffalo, ND, he was the son of the late Ferdinand and Emma Meyer Petersen.
He lived in Upstate New York, Plattsburgh Airforce Base, lived in the Pocono Mountains, PA, and Retired to Little River, SC in 1995.
He served in the US Air Force for 20 year, 6 months and 23 days. He Retired as a MSGT (Master Sargent), served 17 missions in the Korean War and belonged to 51st Bomb Squad, SAC. and Airforce Gunners Association.
He then worked for McGraw-Edison in East Stroudsburg, Pa., after that he then Retired as a Postal Delivery man from the East Stroudsburg Post Office in the 1970’s. He then, became employed as a Custodian for the Stroudsburg Area School District from 1974 to 1994 in which he retired from there.
He settled in Little River, SC and became an active Board member of the VFW Post 10804.
He took great pride in serving his county.
Survivors include his son, Jeff Davey; stepchildren, Michele Sylvester, Mark Davey, Deborah Dowd, Thomas Davey and Nancy Stas; several brothers and sisters, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is predeceased by his wife, JoAnn Petersen; son Stephen Christopher; and stepsons, Timothy Davey and Ronald Davey.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, June 20 in Lee Funeral Home Chapel.
