A Celebration of Life for Leamon “Lee” Parrish, Jr., 71, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service in the Family Life Center.
Mr. Parrish passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Born in Burlington, NC, Lee was a son of the late Leamon Parrish, Sr. and Emily Durham Parrish.
Lee began his career at Myrtle Beach Airport with Piedmont Airlines prior to their merge with US Airways. After 21 years of dedicated service throughout the airlines, Lee retired from Customer Service with US Airways.
While in Bosnia on a medical mission trip with a friend, Lee accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. Following a mission trip to Nepal, he gained a passion for the great commission to spread the gospel throughout the world. Missions and helping others find and love Christ was something that brought Lee great joy and happiness. He volunteered with New Directions as well as Feed the Hunger, where he organized food packing events packing many meals for those in need.
A mutual friend introduced Lee to Debbie Duncan Williams and ten months later, on June 14, 2003, they were married. He was a devoted, loyal, faithful husband and an amazing second father to her sons. Lee would tell Debbie she was the love of his life, and Debbie knew he was her soulmate and the love of her life. Their 21 years doesn’t seem long enough but knowing that he’s with his Lord, gives reassurance that one day they’ll be reunited.
Lee was a former member of Lakeside Baptist Church where his love of the Lord continued to grow while under the mentorship of Rev. Jim Mezick. Lee was a current and active member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, where he was on the Missions Board and was a member of the OD Praise Lesson Class.
His passion was so great that eight years ago he accepted a position with the non-profit organization, India Gospel League. While serving with IGL, he was able to secure funding for many clean water drinking wells, schools, medical clinics, occupational training centers, and much more.
Because of the great importance of IGL in Lee’s life, the family is requesting that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the India Gospel League (IGL) https://give.iglworld.org/tribute-to-lee-parrish
In addition to his wife Debbie, Lee is survived by his sons, Jeremy Williams (wife, Rachel) and Derek Williams as well as his brother, Gary Parrish (Cheryl). Also surviving is the only other girl to steal his heart, his granddaughter Lillian “Lily” who lovingly called him “Ca-Ca”. His love and friendship will be greatly missed but the memories and love left behind will be forever treasured.
