Joseph K. Nance

Born in Lumberton, NC, he was the son of the late Henry Hugh Nance and Hilda Baldwin Nance of Cerro Cordo, NC.

After graduating from Chadbourn High School in 1960, Joseph became a college professor. He earned a BS degree at UNC Chapel Hill (1964) and his Master’s Degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 1965.

Joseph enjoyed reading, golf, sporting events and socializing. He was a member of the Ram’s Club UNC Chapel Hill and was affiliated with VFW and North Carolina high school officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Capps Nance; daughter Paige Nance; son Kin Nance; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; his sister, Julia West; and brother, Mickey Nance.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at Lee Funeral Home Chapel. The family will gather with friends of Joseph at the Calabash VFW, 900 Carter Dr. SW, Calabash, NC 28467 from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
