Jimmy grew up in Hopeton, California, and graduated from Merced High School. Even before graduating, he worked on the family’s dairy farm. After high school, he followed a different path, moving east to pursue a career as a truck driver, inspired by his close bond with his Grandma Lee. He went on to become an owner-operator, founding James Lee, Inc., and spent his life behind the wheel of his rig—a career he took great pride in.
When he wasn’t on the road, Jimmy loved riding his Harley. He frequently traveled with friends to bike week events in Ocean City, MD; Daytona; Sturgis; and Myrtle Beach. He spent most of his adult life in White Hall, Maryland, before retiring to South Carolina, where he designed and built a home he truly loved. He took great pride in maintaining his yard and cherished time spent hosting family and friends.
In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed sipping a cold Coors Light by the fire pit, feeling the ocean breeze, and working on antique trucks. He was known for his storytelling, his generous spirit, and the deep loyalty he showed to those he cared about. Jimmy was an amazing man—a devoted brother, uncle, and friend.
He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Janet E. Ball; his sister, Toni Arnold; and his nephew, T.J. Lee. He is survived by his sister Brenda J. Neal of York, PA; his brother Jerry W. Lee (Holly) of Dillsburg, PA; nephew Travis Neal of Seven Valleys, PA; niece Tia Neal (Ricky) and grand-niece Teagan of York, PA; niece Brandy Arnold and son Andrew of Cave Creek, AZ; and niece Amber Arnold (David) and children Haven, Cohen, and Cove, also of Cave Creek, AZ. He is also remembered by many extended family members and close friends.
A private family viewing will be held on April 17th at Lee’s Funeral Home in Little River, SC, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Hardee’s Cemetery in Loris, SC. The family welcomes memories and tributes shared on the funeral home’s website.
