Eugene Joseph McKenna, Jr., 91, of Little River, SC died October 27, 2019 at McLeod Seacoast Hospital. He was born January 22, 1928 in Bronx, NY to Eugene Joseph, Sr. and Margaret Agnes (Hosking) McKenna. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ruth (Murphy) McKenna. They were married on March 9, 1968 in Elkton, MD.
Eugene is also survived by his children, Russell F. McIntosh (Pamela) and Anita R. McIntosh; daughter-in-law, Kimberly A. McIntosh; grandchildren, Cynthia L. (McIntosh) Fritz, Christina L. McIntosh, Matthew A. McIntosh, Wayne A. McIntosh, Jr., Jennifer (McIntosh) Alagna, and Sherry (McIntosh) Johnson; and his sister-in-law, Sheila McKenna. He is predeceased by a son, Wayne A. McIntosh, Sr.; sisters, Isabella Durkee and Margaret McCarron; brothers, John and Thomas McKenna; and brothers-in-law, Charles McCarron and Robert Durkee.
He has sixteen nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews in Michigan and New Jersey.
Eugene retired from the postal service in 1981. He proudly and valiantly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was a member of the American Legion and Disabled American Veterans.
Committal with military honors will be held at the Florence National Cemetery in Florence, SC on December 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm. Family and friends are welcomed to attend
