Elva “Joyce” Hardee, born September 12, 1932, in Brunswick County, NC, passed away on April 3, 2021, in Little River, SC, at the age of 88. Joyce was the daughter of the late Bennie Russ and Elva Leonard Russ of Brunswick County, NC.
Joyce was the mother of four children and grandmother to nine. She is survived by her son, Benjy Hardee (Lynda); two daughters, Sherri Hardee Holloway (Chris), Sonya Hardee Martin (Morgan); nine grandchildren, Mandi Reaves (Joe), Monica Hardee, Mary Ashley Bellamy (Scott), O’Bryan Martin, Hayley Martin, Austin Holloway, Christopher Holloway, Jessie Vereen and Jeremy Vereen; eight great-grandchildren and numerous other nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 70 years, Allen O’Bryan “A.O.” Hardee; two daughters: Donna Gay Hardee and Regina Vereen Hardee; and one brother Billy Wade Russ.
She was a loyal wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend to many. She was an active member of Living Water Baptist Church and dearly loved her church family. She was always present in her faith and loved our Lord Jesus Christ, impressing her faith on her children as youngsters. She was an excellent seamstress who spent many hours sewing for her family, and despite her large family Joyce always made time for everyone. She was a homemaker who provided infinite love and support for her family, dedicating her life to them.
She was a member of the Grand Strand Auxiliary volunteering for many years at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. She truly lived life to the fullest through the simple pleasures. She loved to garden, fish, and travel with her loving husband, but most importantly, she treasured spending time with her family.
She was loved by all and will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00pm at Living Water Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 6, 2021. The funeral service will begin at 2:00pm.
