Doris Aldridge

Doris Lanelle Aldridge, 90, passed away peacefully at the residence of Sherrye & Larry Mehaffey, her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Little River, SC.

Born on April 8, 1929 in Waynesville, NC, she was the daughter of the late R.L. and Azalee Jordan Saunders.

Mrs. Aldridge retired from Avery County School System.

Survivors include her children, Robin Aldridge (Lee), Denise Watson (Bobby), Sherrye Mehaffey (Larry), Danny Aldridge (Kathey), Susan Eller (Doug), and Mark Aldridge (Gina); 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Crossnore Baptist Church Cemetery, North Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the upkeep and renovation of the Elmer Aldridge Fieldhouse at Avery High School, Newland, NC. Donations may be mailed to Avery County Schools, Doris Aldridge Memorials for Elmer Aldridge Field House, 775 Cranberry St., Newland, NC 28657
