Donald Ray Young Jr.

Donald was born on September 4, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. Son of the late Marie (Holton) and Donald Ray Young, Sr.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Don was a life-long Steelers fan and enjoyed kayaking, shag dancing, and taking his beloved dog Sparky to the dog park and beach. He was an avid traveler and loved exploring new places and cultures.

He will be greatly missed by all those who loved him. He is survived by his only son, Jeffrey Young of Pittsboro, NC and his fiancée. His 2 grandsons, Timothy Young of Sanford, NC and Brandon Young of Raleigh, NC and their partners and great-grandchildren, Lucas and Logan. He is also survived by his sister, Lisa Sylvester of Pittsburgh, PA and nieces and nephews.

As per Don’s request, no funeral or memorial service will be held. Cremation has taken place and his family plans to scatter his ashes in the Atlantic Ocean honoring his wishes.
