Alma was born February 2, 1934 in Parsons, West Virginia to the late Richard and Madeline Evans. She was a proud graduate of South Charleston High School, the first “Miss South Charleston,” and graduate of Morris Harvey College. She retired from Union Carbide after a long career as an Administrative Assistant. Mrs. Brough was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Alma loved traveling, sailing with her husband, spending time with family and friends, and was the true definition of someone who never met a stranger. She loved her country, cheering on the Clemson Tigers, and enjoyed retired life in Cherry Grove Beach, her “little slice of paradise.” She was a strong believer in volunteering and being active in her community, serving in various leadership roles with the Girl Scouts of America and an active member of Women’s Club for over 57 years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John William Brough; her children, Paige Brough Neel (Kevin), Paula Brough Boyd (Edward) and John Evans Brough (Tina); grandchildren, Justin Runyon (Susan), James Runyon (Lavana), Meredith Boyd Steinbeck (Asher), and Adrienne Boyd; great grandchildren, Hannah, Collin, Evan, Bree, Holden and Zayne. Alma was preceded in death by her parents, along with her brother, Richard “Rick” Evans.
Alma was loved by all and will be deeply missed by many.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Lee Funeral Home.
