He grew up in Downers Grove, Illinois. Thomas attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Downers Grove, Illinois. He then attended St. Procopius Academy for high school graduating in 1960. He then attended the University of Notre Dame graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1964. Thomas married the love of his life, Carol Anne Butrymowicz, on November 26, 1964. Thomas started dating Carol while in high school. They married after his graduation from Notre Dame. Thomas settled in Woodridge, Illinois in 1965 with Carol and immediately set out to start a family. Thomas’s primary love, however, was always his family. He was a loving, faithful, and dutiful husband to Carol as well as a devoted father to three sons. Thomas doted on his children providing unending love, support, guidance and encouragement. He loved taking his family on vacations, especially to Leech Lake in Walker, Minnesota. Nothing was too great an ask when it came to his wife and children. He worked tirelessly to ensure his sons got the best educations possible making that a priority of the family. He was successful as all three of his sons graduated from college with two of his sons getting professional degrees as lawyers.
Thomas was a giving and thoughtful man his entire life and provided the best possible example for his family. He was a truly successful man by any measure. He also had a dry and engaging sense of humor that his family enjoyed and he enjoyed vigorous discussions of current events and politics.
