Juanita Rodriguez, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2022, at the age of 88. Born on December 7, 1933, in Battle Creek, MI. She was a graduate of Compton Junior College, in Compton, CA Class of 1950. She married once but divorced a few years later and focused on being a single mother of 9.
She worked various jobs over the years including… delivery driver, bartender, office worker, factory worker, and managed a donut shop. Her favorite and most memorable position was as a professional photographer. She enjoyed photographing weddings and many other celebrations and would often volunteer her services.
Juanita also enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader for two of her granddaughter’s troop. This combined her love of Arts and Crafts while leading the girls to be independent.
She also enjoyed playing Bingo, word puzzles, a little gambling and collecting elephant figurines. She was very proud of her vast collection of her figurines and statues. In her younger years she enjoyed traveling and lived for a brief time in Japan and Hawaii and visited Mexico several times.
We will remember our mother most for her favorite drink, Vanilla Dr. Mc Gillicuddy, trying to be her own repair person, doing her own house repairs and car repairs, riding around town on her motorized scooter, her ability to tell a story, her independence, and her stubbornness. Some of those traits were passed along to her 9 children, which is perhaps her legacy.
Juanita is survived by her sister Reta (Tony) Margiotta, her children Mary Parsons (Conroy), Patty (Ony) Gomez, Edward (Julie) Conroy, Tammy (Scott) Pfantz, Chris (Dawn) Conroy, Roberta Rodriguez, Bonnie Loredo (Rodriguez), and Regina Martinez (Rodriguez). Her grandson Jose Cainas, granddaughters Brianna Mata, Veronica Beltran and Vannesa Lindsay who aided in her care and comfort in her final years, as well as 23 more grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson Michael Lindsay, daughter Alta (George) Albin, nephew Michael Kennedy, Her Mother Alta (Toungate) Kennedy, Stepfather Kenneth Kennedy, Father Faye Ralph Burrows, her two bothers Robert and Donald Kennedy and her sister Goldie Marie (Bud) Kahn.
