George Byron Morse V, 72, of Rockford, IL was born March 31, 1952 in Chicago, IL to George Byron Morse IV and Gloria Virginia Morse (nee Opsahl). George went home to glory to be with his Savior Thursday, February 27, 2025.
In his youth, George was affectionately known as “Joe” by his loving and devoted foster parents, Bob and Marge Koppein. In life, George shared stories of his happiest childhood memories with the Koppeins. It was with Bob and Marge, George came to know Christ.
George graduated from Sullivan High School in 1970. He furthered his education at Aurora College majoring in psychology and playing tennis. George went on to serve in various fields, favoring his time as a restaurant manager describing the position as an exceptional fit.
George will be remembered for his testament of faith. Throughout his life, he led countless people to the Lord including his daughter, son-in-law, other family members, friends and strangers alike. A King James Version Bible always on hand, George was ready to teach anyone who asked about God’s grace through his Son.
George is survived by his daughter, Elane Sims (Bill); grandchildren, John, Matthew, Natalie, and Nolan; his siblings: Carol Rance, Judy Nelson (Larry), Pamela Niedzwiedzki (Jack), Sue Richmond (Chris); many nieces, nephews, extended family, and one particularly wonderful caretaker and friend, Danielle.
He was preceded in death by both his biological parents George Byron Morse IV and Gloria Morse; his foster parents, Robert “Bob” Koppein, and Margaret “Marge” Butler; and brother-in-law Terry Rance.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 3-5 PM at Shorewood Bible Church, 1900 Hicks Rd, Rolling Meadows, IL 60008. Private interment will be held at The Lisle Cemetery for immediate family.
