He was born on April 12, 1944, in Bath, Maine, a son to Westley and Evelyn (Chandler) Sweeney. He attended local schools, graduating from Morse High School.
He was a proud veteran and served two tours in Vietnam and one tour in Korea.
He was married to Cheryl Roehrig on July 1st, 1967. Together they had two boys, six grandchildren and one great grandson.
Rob was a cherished family man and loved spending time with his wife of 57 years.
Rob had a great sense of humor. He was known for being a prankster and loved playing jokes on others.
He worked for Health Tex and professional graphics and Amature Services for many years. He also fixed sewing machines as a side job.
Rob enjoyed the peaceful sounds of nature waiting for his trophy deer which he got in 1990. He shot a 12 point 236 pound buck. This was a proud moment for him and the entire family.
He always enjoyed his two boys Trent and Troy. He was a proud Papa and loved spending time at the new camp in Garland with them.
Rob was a loving, thoughtful and amazing man. He was a loving husband to Cheryl and an amazing father – he was a great grandfather and was an example of what a true man is. He was a hero in the army and a hero in real life. He was a man that would drop anything for you, give you the shirt off his back or the last dollar in his pocket. He loved joking and he showed us how a man should treat a lady.
He will be missed by so many, we will love you forever, until we meet again.
Robert is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Donald Sweeney and (Gladys Sweeney) Tink Sweeney.
