Lewiston -Gina Marie Mason of Ridge Road in Lisbon Falls was welcomed into the presence of her Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, September 5, 2017. She was greeted in glory by her beloved father Chauncey R. Crafts. Born in Lewiston on December 30, 1959 the daughter of Chauncey and Carmella DeBurra Crafts. She graduated from Lisbon High School in 1978 and earned an associates degree from Westbrook College in 1980. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Turner. She married Rick Mason of Lisbon Falls on August 25, 1979. They made their home on Ridge Road where she loved making her house everyone's home. They built their house themselves from trees that grew on their property. They enjoyed raising and talking about their children, teaching Sunday School, riding in their 1964 Chevrolet pick-up truck, and completing projects around the house. They did not enjoy spending time apart but preferred to live life together. Her most prized accomplishment was her children Garrett and Haley Mason. Not a day went by that she didn't call her kids and tell them she loved them. She was first and foremost a mother, not only to her kids but to countless others. Gina loved the town of Lisbon. Many times she said that she wished Lisbon had a Mayor because she would have loved to run for the office. She held many offices in Lisbon some elected and some voluntary. She served on the inaugural Lisbon Town Council, Lisbon School Board and Lisbon Revitalization Committee. She was awarded the Maine Downtown Network's Public Official of the Year in 2010 for her dedication to the town. The role she cherished most in her volunteer work was with the Moxie Festival Committee. She orchestrated the yearly Moxie Parade since 2010 and was involved in the parade in some form since its inception. In November 2016 she was elected to serve in the State Legislature representing the town that she loved. She was particularly proud to be serving with her son, Senate Majority Leader Garrett Mason. Gina and Garrett made history serving as a mother son team in the legislature for Lisbon. She never let a legislative day go by without first stopping by Garrett's office to give him a hug. She enjoyed serving on the Inland Fisheries & Wildlife committee. Her most treasured moment was visiting the bear den with Rick and Garrett. While everyone else was with the baby cubs Gina spent most of her time with the biologists and the mother bear. Recently she was fond of spending time with her daughter Haley in Florida. Within her last week here on earth, God blessed both Haley and Gina with one last trip to Florida where they spent 5 days together learning how to blow glass (something they have always wanted to do), enjoying sunsets on the beach, walking around a local market, cooking together, hugging often, laughing a ton and shopping. The most enjoyable part of the trip was the time they spent talking about the amazing things that Jesus has done for their family and continues to do. Gina passed away doing what she loved - laughing, talking and cooking dinner for her family. Dinner time was an important time of day for her. It was when she got to show her love to her family in her favorite way, through food. She enjoyed time gardening, entertaining, feeding the birds, mowing the lawn and spending time on the porch with her family. She is survived by her husband of 38 years and love of her life Rick Mason of Lisbon Falls, her son Garrett Mason of Lisbon Falls and his girlfriend Rebekah Lynch of Lewiston, her daughter Haley Mason of Gulf Breeze, FL, Her mother Carmella Crafts of Topsham, her sister Amy Hollander and her husband Gil of Jupiter, FL and their three sons Jordan, Everett and Alex, her best friend Roberta Staples of Lee, and her granddog Moon.
