Francis Leroy Farrell

Francis "FranK" Leroy Farrell, age 94, of Auburn, Maine passed away on Friday, July 5, 2024. Frank was born in Auburn on October 11th, 1929, a son to Stephen and Gertrude (Hitchcock) Farrell. He grew up in a Catholic family and attended local schools.

Frank was a member of the V6 (Victory in 6) during his school years which helped prepare him for the service. He left Edward Little at 17 to pursue a career in the Navy where he completed his GED. During his time in the Navy, Frank received credit for both the Korean War and World War II. He was also one of six individuals in the United States to be trained on specific aspects of the ships and their propellers.

He married the love of his life Barbara Lord in 1952. The pair had 4 children and enjoyed a wonderful life together.

After leaving the Navy, Frank and Barbara lived in Massachusetts for over 20 years. There, Frank spent over 20 years working as a machinist for the government at the Watertown Arsenal

Frank thoroughly loved to work and spent his free time working on his house flipping projects. One of his most prized possessions is the Buck House which he restored to its current glory. The Buck House is the oldest house is in Wilmington, Mass and part of the Historical Registry, being built in 1670.

When he wasn't working on houses, Frank loved clamming, fishing on the ocean and going on adventures with his wife Barbara. The two enjoyed traveling, antiquing and checking out flea markets. Frank even spent some time as a machine tool instructor for the Southern Maine Vocational School.

Frank is predeceased by his beloved wife Barbara, his parents and many family members.

He leaves behind his four children Valerie Levasseur, Scott Farrell, Heidi Libby and Mark Farrell as well as his grandchildren Joe and Patrick Levasseur, Matthew Libby, Katie Charest, Mark W. Farrell and Nathaniel Krasny. Francis also leaves behind many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Dionne Commons for the exceptional care they gave to Frank during his many years there.
