LEWISTON: Evelyn M. Woodhouse, 89, of Lisbon Falls passed away on Wednesday April 27, 2016 at CMMC in Lewiston with her loving children by her side. She was born in New Haven, CT on June 25, 1926 the only child of George and Doris Noel. At an early age, the family moved to Maine and Evelyn grew up in and attended local schools in the Old Orchard Beach area. She was a graduate of Old Orchard Beach High School, class of 1944. After high school she attended the Newton/Wellsley School of Nursing where she graduated in 1947 with her nursing degree. After returning to Maine, on April 24, 1948 she married Oliver Woodhouse and the two started a family together. During that time Evelyn spent many years as a registered nurse showing care and compassion for her fellow patients until her retirement. She was a member of the United States Cadet Nurse Corp for 3 years as well as a life member and past matron of Pioneer Chapter #11 and the Order of the Eastern Star. An ideal day in the life of Evelyn would consist of working on some games and puzzles, crocheting many pieces of clothing, watching some TCM movies and listening to Salvation Army music. She also loved spending quality time with her friends and family whenever she could. Evelyn is survived by her four children; Peter Woodhouse of Bath, John Woodhouse and his wife Diane of South Plainfield, NJ, Stephen Woodhouse and his wife Cindy of Bowdoin, and Dorie Freeman and her husband Chuck of Lisbon Falls. She also leaves behind her 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren whom she cared for very much. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Oliver Woodhouse and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Woodhouse. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.crosmanfuneralhome.com
