Leonor Valladares, 75 years old, of Edison, NJ, passed away in Florida surrounded by her family on Friday, December 23, 2022. Leonor was born on February 5, 1947, in Havana, Cuba to her late parents, Meliton Rodriguez and Maria Gonzalez. She later emigrated to the United States in 1966.
Leonor is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Roberto, son Roberto and wife Midalmis, son George and wife Kathy, son Guillermo and wife Jackie, and four grandchildren, Katy and partner John, Alex and wife Calli, Ryan and partner Mariana, and Gabriel.
First and foremost, Leonor was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was in her glory when surrounded by her family and was an active part of all their lives. Frequently, when it was time for someone to head home, she would ‘remember’ something she wanted to show or share with us. Anything to share more time.
Leonor spent most of her time with her beloved Roberto. They lived for each other and did everything together. They loved going to their favorite restaurants every weekend, often with friends or family. She loved taking her poodle Toby for walks in the park.
Leonor, a devout Catholic, was a former parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption in Elizabeth and most recently, St. Agnes Church in Clark. You could always find her at Sunday mass in her regular pew. She regularly volunteered at St. Agnes making sandwiches for those in need.
Leonor had several careers with lengthy stays at Fernandez Distributors and MLS Medical Billing. Many people she worked with were more than coworkers, they became family. She made lifelong friends at every place she worked. After all, she was easy to get along with. How many people do you know who can strike enduring friendships with people by simply asking a stranger in a store where she got her haircut?
Leonor called herself a Jersey Girl but just as much loved to travel with her Roberto. They visited much of Europe including her beloved parent’s homeland Spain on multiple occasions. Leonor was always yearning for another trip. She celebrated her passion and joy by dancing, whether at a pub in Dublin or a hall in Paris, as well as celebratory occasions back home with friends and family.
Her all-encompassing love will always be remembered, cherished, and honored.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation services that will be held on Wednesday, January 11, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Krowicki McCracken Funeral Home, 2124 East St. Georges Avenue Linden, NJ, 07036 and funeral mass on Thursday, January 12, at 10:45 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, 332 Madison Hill Road, Clark, NJ.
