José Antonio Ferreiro, aged 86, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba, as the sixth child of José Ferreiro Recouso and Maria Taboada. José attended the Havana Business Academy for one year, but his studies were interrupted by the revolution. In 1966, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Miami. For several years, he worked as a maître d' in Miami before becoming the plant manager at Premix-Marbletite for eight years. In the mid-'70s, José moved to New Jersey and managed several nightclubs in Union City until he married Aileen Carol Zamanski in 1982. The following year, he joined Distributors Recycling in Newark, New Jersey, as a supervisor and was soon promoted to plant manager, overseeing the Newark and Hillside plants. José dedicated 15 years to this role. Later, he held the position of plant manager at Good Times Entertainment in Jersey City and International Samples in Elizabeth for a total of three years. José had a passion for music and dancing and was an active member of the Club Cubano of Elizabeth, where he and Aileen celebrated many joyous occasions. He was known for his impeccable style, culinary skills, and his unwavering support for the soccer team, Barcelona S.C. José's vibrant energy and enthusiasm for life endeared him to everyone he met.
Before his passing, José was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Manola, José, Juan, and Roberto.
He is survived by several family members, including his sister Maria Carmen from La Coruna, Spain.
Additionally, he is survived by his wife Aileen Carol, his daughter Ileana Maria and son-in-law Juan Leonardo Alonso from Hialeah, Florida. Furthermore, his grandson Gustavo Antonio and his wife Zazshah Mercedes reside in Miami, FL.
Lastly, José is also survived by his great grandchildren: Gustavo Adrian, Christian Antonio, Chloe Alyson, Zachary Antonio, Zazshah Abigail, and Zarah Avril.
A visitation for Jose will be held Thursday, June 27, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at KROWICKI MCCRACKEN FUNERAL HOME, 2124 East Saint George Ave, Linden, NJ 07036.
There will be a funeral mass on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Genevieve's Church, 200 Monmouth Road, Elizabeth, New Jersey.
