Joe was born in Freas, Órense Spain in 1940. He emigrated to the United States with his parents, Adolfo and Delfina and his brother, Elias in 1949. The family lived in the “down neck” section of Newark for many years.
He graduated from East Side High School and played baseball for the local leagues, a sport he loved. He was an avid Yankees, Giants and Rangers fan. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
In 1967, he married the love of his life, Celsa, and they were married for almost 50 years prior to her death in 2017. Joe retired from the Sherwin Williams Company in the late 1990’s and resided in Toms River since that time.
A loving, witty and wonderful father, husband and grandfather who will be missed terribly, Joe is survived by his brother, Elias, his children, Leonor and Joe and his three grandchildren, George, Gabrielle and Joseph. The family thanks everyone who has reached out during this difficult time.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 am directly at St. Genevieve RC Church, 200 Monmouth Road in Elizabeth. Cremation will be private.
