James had a great love for God. He served as an alter boy at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, in Elizabeth. He maintained his faith throughout his life and lived by the “Golden Rule”.
James’s huge loving heart was shown in many acts of kindness throughout his life. James was always there to help others. As a young man, he helped take care of his baby sister while his mother went to work at night and later on in life, he helped his sister-in-law when his brother was ill. He always gave of himself.
James had a passion for a multitude of activities, especially horseback riding, the martial arts, watching action movies and learning about painting. He loved taking weekly riding lessons just as much as attending a professional baseball game.
In 2018, James moved to Illinois from VA to be with his sister after the passing of their brother, Francis.
In 2021, James moved with his sister to Jacksonville, Florida, where he worked as a custodian at the University of North Florida.
James is survived by his sister, Ellen Joyce Tarantino and sister-in-law, JoAnne Tarantino.
